Mission/ Vision and Values 

Salt and Light Coalition empowers survivors of human trafficking to thrive through a trauma-informed, three-step approach that equips them with self-awareness, workplace readiness, and ongoing support.

  • Program Outline: 6-month Life Skills and Job Training Program. Focus on healing the mind, body, and soul through the biopsychosocialspiritual model. The majority of our program is survivor-led. 

  • Population: Female survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence

    • We refer to our clients as “Thrivers.”

    • Most thrivers have a history of addiction

      • Zero tolerance for drug use in our program, must have 6 months clean

    • Most thrivers have PTSD

      • Zero tolerance for sex work while in our program

Learning Opportunities: 

  • Provide trauma-informed nutrition class, enhancing healthy eating and nutritional education 

    • Gain leadership and experience by leading a nutrition class 

    • Build communication skills among staff and trauma survivors 

    • Apply academic knowledge to real-world situations 

  • Goals and Responsibilities 

    • Lead and plan nutritional needs and concerns 

    • Serving 10-20 women per activity 

    • Accurately assess Thriver’s dietary needs and concerns 

    • Encourage Thrivers to practice having a balanced meal outside of program hours 

    • Promote healthy eating to enhance Thriver’s nutritional wellbeing 

    • Participate in planning for the week and attend a staff meeting 

    • Optional: Opportunity to present a final presentation or nutritional activity encompassing Thriver’s nutrition impact or learned knowledge during the internship. 

    • Monday- Thursday 3:30-4:00 pm (2, 30-minute activities) welcomed to attend for the full 1-4pm 

    • Friday: 11:30-1:30 PM Team Meetings (can be done remotely)

Important Info- 

In-take Process

  1. Send cover letter and resume to Angela Morales and Taylor Holm 

  2. Orientation type/info: Volunteer Training (Trauma-Informed Training. Upon trauma-informed training, applicants will discuss expectations and objectives for their internship with the Recruitment Specialist and the Program Manager. 

  3. Background Checks Requirements: Background checks are required for anyone working directly with our clients unless already completed by the school

  4. COVID-19 Requirements: No vaccination requirement to be on-site. We follow CDC guidelines
