In preparation for a leadership transition Wiley Union Church is seeking a full-time youth pastor who is spiritually mature, gifted, and equipped to systematically teach God's Word.
The youth pastor is accountable to the Board of Elders and must work with pastoral staff in reaching and discipling the youth. He shall fit the biblical requirements for a pastor and be able to provide pulpit supply when needed. He will also be an ex-officio member of the Board of Elders.
The youth pastor is primarily and directly responsible for teaching, shepherding, and discipling those in grades 7-12 within the congregation. He is to plan and maintain a weekly youth meeting focused on systematically developing the spiritual lives of youth through the teaching of God’s Word. Additional events, outings, camps, retreats, and other youth activities are to be planned for the development of camaraderie and fellowship amongst youth.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate for Wiley must be in line with the qualifications of an elder in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. He must be in full agreement with Wiley’s Doctrinal Statement and have the gifting and ability to teach and preach the Word of God. He must be a married man who has a visible relationship with God who is able to lead, exhort, and discipline biblically. The youth pastor must be able to effectively and accurately communicate God’s Word as well as humbly and lovingly work with others on staff and within the congregation. A candidate with ministry experience and Bible school training is preferred.
