Position Summary

Heritage Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Worship Pastor who will lead our congregation in Christ-centered, biblically grounded worship. This individual will provide spiritual leadership, musical direction, and pastoral care, helping cultivate a worship culture that is both theologically rich and accessible to a multigenerational church family. The Worship Pastor will help lead our people into genuine worship that engages both heart and mind.

Primary Responsibilities

Worship Leadership & Planning

* Plan and lead Sunday morning worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor

* Select songs that are theologically sound and congregationally engaging

* Introduce and teach new music to the congregation

* Lead rehearsals for praise team, vocalists, and instrumentalists

* Plan and oversee special services (e.g., Easter, Christmas, etc.)

Team Development & Oversight

* Recruit, train, and disciple praise team members and musicians

* Build a culture of spiritual growth and musical excellence within the team

* Provide leadership and oversight to the church’s technology director and media volunteers

Technical Oversight

* Oversee all aspects of worship service production, including:

  * Sound

  * Lighting

  * Presentation software

  * Livestream systems

* Ensure all technical elements support (not distract from) worship

Vision & Worship Culture

* Shape and maintain the overall philosophy and direction of worship ministry

* Give thoughtful leadership to the appearance and tone of the platform/stage

* Foster an atmosphere of reverence, joy, and authenticity in corporate worship

Pastoral Responsibilities

As a member of the pastoral team, the Worship Pastor will:

* Model Christlike character and spiritual maturity

* Pray for and shepherd members of the congregation

* Visit and care for those who are sick or in need

* Participate in staff meetings and church-wide ministry planning

* Assist in pastoral counseling, including occasional pre-marital counseling

* Contribute to the overall spiritual vision and direction of the church

* Preach, teach, and disciple (as needed)

Qualifications

Spiritual & Character Requirements

* Meets the biblical qualifications for church leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5-9

* Demonstrates a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ

* Exhibits humility, integrity, and a servant’s heart

* Has a clear calling to pastoral ministry

Musical & Leadership Qualifications

* Proficient in vocal leadership and at least one musical instrument (preferred)

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Bible or ministry training

* Ability to lead a congregation—not just perform for them

* Experience leading worship teams and organizing volunteers

* Working knowledge of worship technology and production systems

Personal & Ministry Fit

* Able to lead effectively in a multigenerational church context

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* Organized, reliable, and able to manage weekly ministry rhythms

* Teachable and aligned with the doctrine and philosophy of Heritage Baptist Church

Work Schedule & Expectations

This is a full-time position with responsibilities that include:

* Sunday morning and occasional evening services

* Weekly rehearsals and preparation

* Regular office hours and staff meetings

* Flexibility for hospital visits, special events, and seasonal services
