3. Core Responsibilities
A. Bible Study Development & Facilitation
Design and prepare weekly after-hours Bible study curriculum aligned with SALC’s mission and Equip–Empower–Thrive framework
Lead or co-facilitate Bible study groups, rotating teaching responsibilities with site staff
Create participant discussion guides, handouts, and supplemental study resources
Adapt teaching approach for diverse audiences including unbelievers and new believers
B. After-Hours Engagement Programming
Contribute to a seasonal community engagement calendar, Bible studies, prayer nights, service events
Plan and execute 2–3 original community engagement events per semester
Build relationships with community participants through consistent presence
Collaborate with local church and nonprofit partners to connect participants to ongoing support, and church home groups
C. Discipleship & Pastoral Support
Conduct one-on-one discipleship meetings with community members as assigned by site supervisor or professor
Assist with pastoral care follow-up, prayer support, and community resource referral
Participate in weekly staff prayer, team meetings, and ministry debriefs
4. Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will demonstrate competency in:
Biblical exposition and applied teaching in a community ministry context
Lesson plan small group facilitation for diverse participants
Strategic planning and execution of community engagement programming
Cross-cultural communication and incarnational ministry presence
Reflective ministry practice integrating theology and lived experience
Women’s discipleship, mentoring, and trauma-informed care
5. Supervision & Academic Accountability

End-of-semester presentation of ministry project; evaluated jointly by site and faculty supervisors |

7. Intern Qualifications
Salt & Light Coalition welcomes students from either program who meet the following:
Enrolled in BA Missional Leadership — Interdisciplinary or BA Ministry to Women at Moody Bible Institute
Completed at least one year of biblical and theological coursework
Demonstrated commitment to personal spiritual disciplines and character formation
Ability to serve in an urban context alongside women from diverse and vulnerable backgrounds
Willingness to maintain confidentiality and adhere to trauma-informed care principles
Available for occasional evening hours and Saturday midday programming
