Lead Pastor Ministry Description Summary:

The Lead Pastor works in harmony with the Staff and Elders, seeking to advance the beliefs, mission, values and strategy of Faith Community Church.  The Lead Pastor's primary responsibilities center around what is outlined in Ephesians 4:11-13 and 1 Peter 5:2-3.  As Lead Pastor he strives to glorify God by providing ministerial oversight through shepherding the flock in Biblically sound/relevant preaching/teaching, spiritual & relational growth, outreach and modelling what it looks like to love God and love people.  The Lead Pastor is under the oversight of the elders.

Spiritual and Character Development:

• Demonstrate a stable, mature Christian walk, reflecting the requirements of a Pastor (1 Timothy 3:1-7; 2 Timothy 2; Titus 1:5-9)
• Exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
• Have an authentic and ongoing relationship with the Lord in prayer and the Word (outside of sermon preparation)
• Be in agreement with the EFCA statement of faith (click here)

Education, Experience, and Knowledge Preferences:

• At least two years of pastoral experience (paid or volunteer)
• Experience in preparing and preaching expository and topical sermons
• Experience in recruiting, developing, and encouraging leaders
• Ministry-related undergraduate, graduate, or other related training is desirable and/or the desire to further your ministry education.

Necessary Skills and Abilities:

• A strong composition of many or all of the following: compassion, communication, creativity, shepherding, collaborative leadership, vision-casting, administration, teambuilding, and enthusiasm.
• Able to articulate ideas clearly with well-developed interpersonal skills
• Able to model servant leadership
• Demonstrate an authentic love for people
• Able to pass a criminal background test

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

• Devote significant time to studying the Bible and prayer
• Seek the Lord for specific vision that the elders are in agreement with, and that can be clearly communicated and implemented
• Oversee/develop the staff in the planning and implementation of all services and events
• Lead the elders, staff, and other leaders to accomplish the church's purpose in both discipleship and outreach
• Provide leadership in selecting, enlisting, and training qualified persons for church leadership
• Seek to prioritize prayer both personally and in the life of the church
• Provide care and encouragement for the congregation with the assistance of staff and ministry leaders
• Provide Biblical counsel, perform weddings, and conduct funerals
• Oversee the financial health of the church with the assistance of the Treasurer and Bookkeeper
• Coordinate with other leaders to maintain and develop the property and buildings
• Agree to abide by the church's constitution and by-laws

Employment Type:

• Full-Time (40-50 hours per week)
• Salary Range $75,000-$85,000
